IntroductionI'm announcing the launch of a new novel-writing project, and I'll be posting freshly-written scenes in the Friday slot here on my blog. This will be rather like my serialization of Prester John, in which I will write the novel as it is being posted (but unlike A Flame in the Night and Worth It All, which were already complete before I serialized them here). Thus, it is not written down yet; however, there are three people who have already heard this story in full. You see, it originated with a set of bedtime stories that I made up to tell my children. At the end of my storytelling, my oldest son asked me to write it down in book form. I'll be trying to write it, then, in such a manner that grade-school kids could read it, and so it falls in the same class of books as C. S. Lewis' Chronicles of Narnia and Madeleine L'Engle's Wrinkle in Time series (though rather nearer the bottom of the list than those two exemplary works). It is a fantasy-adventure story, slightly allegorical, and so it follows some of the comfortable tropes of that genre: it tells about three children who embark on a quest to find and restore the rightful king to the throne. I'll do my best to post a new section each Friday. Please follow along if you're interested.
